Welcome to the website of the New York State Society of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (NYSSAAI). The NYSSAAI is a professional medical association representing over 100 Board-Certified Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Specialists throughout all regions of New York State.

The New York State Society of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (NYSSAAI) was formed in 1987. We are an organization that represents all physicians engaged in the allergy, asthma and/or immunology specialty practice of medicine who are licensed to practice medicine in the State of New York. We are a vibrant and active organization that represents physician and patient interests in Albany and in Washington, D.C., which  ensures that the unique interests of New York allergists and immunologists and our patients are aggressively represented with state and national geographic medical societies, as well as with our national specialty societies.

The NYSSAAI and its members are dedicated to promoting quality Allergy, Asthma and Immunology specialty care through medical and public education, as well as patient advocacy. We strongly support the special relationship between our memer physicians and their patients.

All of our member physicians are certified by the American Board of Allergy & Immunology (ABAI) or by the Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). They have completed a 2 or 3 year fellowship in the specialty after a 3 year primary care residency in Internal Medicine or Pediatrics. They must first be certified by their primary care specialty and complete their Allergy/Immunology fellowship before they can be eligible to be certified by the ABAI/AOA.

In order to keep abreast of the newest developments in the specialty, our members engage in ongoing continuing education and most are enrolled in a formal ABAI/AOA Maintenance of Certification Program.
